★★☆Single study — solid evidence, such as one good trial or a large observational dataset, but not replicated at the top tier.

Other · single study

The product with the most cordycepin is not the one that releases it

Supplements led on raw cordycepin at 81.4 mg per 100 g, but run through a simulated gut the fruiting bodies released the most, about 26 mg per 100 g.

What the study found

Digestion reverses which cordyceps product holds the most cordycepin

Retail Cordyceps militaris supplements led on raw cordycepin, at 81.4 milligrams per 100 grams. Run everything through a simulated gut and the fruiting bodies released the most instead, about 26 milligrams per 100 grams. How and on what the fungus was grown changed the numbers throughout.

The caveat · A lab gut model, not the bloodstream

Two commercial supplements were tested, so this describes two products rather than a market. The digestion was simulated in a laboratory model, which estimates what could be released into the gut, not what reaches the bloodstream or any tissue. No health outcome was measured anywhere in the study.
