The famous mouse study did not find the mice living longer
Mice drank NMN for 12 months from middle age and did better on weight, energy metabolism and eyesight. The paper reports no survival difference by log-rank test.
What the study found
The mouse study behind the longevity pitch found no lifespan gain
Mice drank NMN for twelve months from middle age and did visibly better on weight, energy metabolism, insulin handling and eyesight. They did not live longer: the paper reports no survival difference by log-rank test, which is the one result it is most often cited for.
The caveat · Mouse doses above a human capsule's
Mice, at 100 to 300 mg of NMN per kilogram of body weight a day. A 70 kg adult swallowing a standard 250 mg capsule takes about 4 mg per kilogram, and body-surface scaling narrows that gap without closing it. More was not better even in the mice: the higher-dose group moved around less and reared less than the lower-dose one. The senior author holds NMN patent-licensing interests.
