Products high in CBD and low in THC may not ease chronic pain at all

Across 25 trials in 2,303 people with chronic pain, what relief was measured, 0.54 and 0.78 points on a ten-point scale, came from balanced or THC-dominant products.

What the study found

In chronic pain, the relief traced back to THC, not cannabidiol

Across 25 randomised trials in 2,303 people with chronic pain, products low in THC relative to cannabidiol may not improve outcomes at all. What relief was measured — 0.54 and 0.78 points on a ten-point scale — came from balanced or THC-dominant products instead.

The caveat · Mostly nerve pain, not daily aches

The trials ran one to six months and 64% concerned nerve pain, so this does not cover long-term use or the everyday aches cannabidiol is sold for. The cannabidiol-dominant result is a null across a whole product category, not a tested null for any particular product or dose.
