Two weeks of nightly CBD left every sleep measure where it was

Thirty adults with insomnia took 150mg of cannabidiol or placebo nightly for two weeks. Insomnia severity, time to fall asleep and time awake at night all matched placebo.

What the study found

150mg of cannabidiol nightly left insomnia severity unchanged

Thirty adults with insomnia took 150mg of cannabidiol or a placebo nightly for two weeks. Insomnia severity and every sleep measure they reported themselves — time to fall asleep, sleep efficiency, time awake at night — matched placebo. They did report feeling better throughout.

The caveat · One objective measure did move

A pilot of thirty people cannot rule out a small effect. One objective measure did move — sleep efficiency favoured cannabidiol at week two — while every measure the sleepers reported themselves did not. And 150mg nightly is about three times what people typically take.
