Men using it recreationally reported more erection trouble

Four percent of 1,944 US undergraduate men said they had used one of these drugs recreationally, most alongside illicit drugs. Which came first, this cannot say.

What the study found

Recreational users reported erection trouble at 2.5 times the rate

Four percent of 1,944 US undergraduate men said they had used an erectile dysfunction drug recreationally, and most of them combined it with illicit drugs. Those men reported erectile difficulties at two and a half times the rate of the men who had not.

The caveat · The trouble may have come first

The arrow could point either way and this design cannot separate them: recreational use may erode confidence, or men who already have difficulty may reach for the drug and call it recreational. The data are from 2006 and 2007, before telehealth prescribing changed how young men get these drugs.
